Natalie responds to ex-husband’s comments
Natalie has broken her silence on her first marriage to Sydney chef Graham Wilmott, responding to her ex-husband’s recent comments on their relationship and the leaked wedding photos.
Until now, Natalie had only briefly mentioned being married for two years in the late 90′s, but opted not to go into detail on their divorce or reveal the identity of her ex. But as she prepares for her upcoming wedding to fellow (former) Rogue Traders band mate Cameron McGlinchey – who also have a one year old daughter together – the Australian media’s sensationalized mission to drudge up Natalie’s private past couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time.
“I’m getting married in a minute, the last thing I want to do is talk about my ex-husband,” Natalie professed yesterday morning on Fox FM’s Matt & Jo Show.
“Look, I know they [the media] have been trying to chase him for years. I kinda feel sorry for him, to be honest, he’s a good guy, yes we had a good time. Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t feel like he’s come out and… it’s not slander or something, I think someone’s going “come on, tell me what you think!” and… leave him alone, the poor guy! We’ve both moved on. It’s life.”
As for the source of the leaked photos, Natalie said she had asked Wilmott via text message if he had shared them with the press but received no response. Still, no bitterness from her end.
“I have no hard feelings.”
Natalie is also choosing to keep her upcoming wedding a private affair. At least, she won’t be selling her special day to any magazines, or revealing the location of the ceremony. She fears, though, the media and increasingly invasive paparazzi will find their way.
“It becomes a different day. I don’t have a problem with anyone doing that, but it’s just not really what the day’s about. I have a feeling they’re gonna be there anyway, to be honest. They’ve been following us for weeks, and they’re finding out so much information. It’s not like what you see on tv with, like, Nicole Kidman. But they’re still… in weird spaces.”
“I try to be ok with it, the same with the ex-husband, if he needed to get that off his chest then that’s his thing. I kinda feel like he was made to say something, you know?”
