Nat releases her first single in more than two years
IT’S her first single in more than two years – not that you’d know it.
Defiant Natalie Bassingthwaighte is returning to the dancefloor with All We Have – a song she says reflects the strength she felt after becoming a mother to daughter Harper, now 13 months old.
“I am feistier than ever. I want to own who I am and go for it and not be fearful of what anyone will think – because after you have a child, that stuff doesn’t matter anymore,” said the judge on Seven’s The X-Factor.
The former Rogue Traders frontwoman – affectionately known as NatBass – co-wrote the song with locals Cassie Davis and Sean Ray as well as her soon-to-be-husband Cameron McGlinchey.
“Cam and I are so different – I am so pop and he’s so much cooler than me so I think we strike a really good balance. I’ll tell him something isn’t marketable and he’ll tell me it’s daggy,” she said.
All We Have may be a full-tilt dance song but it is not without poignancy for the star as it was overseen by her record company minder, the late JD Springbett.
“The song means so much to me because of his involvement; he was there from the beginning of my career … I get speechless thinking about him,” she said.
Bassingthwaighte will be performing the new song on The X Factor next week.
“I haven’t danced for 20 years,” the former So You Think You Can Dance host joked.
